About this deal

In some ways, it may do that - but in reality it is actually much more of a memoir; a personal history and collection of anecdotes from the author's time as a music journalist, with excess and addiction as the connecting link.

No other industry brags about a suicide squad (hello the ominous 27 Club - Amy Winehouse, Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix, you know the drill) and no other industry fails to pay its employees, driving them to drink, drugs and death.some of the reviews I'd read gave the impression of a disjointed narrative, or disapointment that there weren't more a-list celeb anecdotes in here. I'm certainly more aware now of the huge pressures they face, I just wish they had been able to get support for their struggles. There is almost a whole chapter here dedicated to the band, whose other members I do feel sorry for and in a way I'm glad they have opportunities to speak their own truths, but I just. Finished the book feeling very strongly that Lennon was right about the men in suits who take the bulk of the money generated from the sales of the music made by creative but naive people. I really wanted to love this book, the subject matter is something I work in and have experienced personally.

It’s a situation compounded by a noticeable lack of duty of care on the part of management and record companies. Ian Winwood is a music journalist whose work has appeared in the Daily Telegraph , the Guardian , Kerrang! This interview is generally considered to be fiction of the journalist and to have never actually occurred. After all we've seen Kayne West work with him openly and now MM has taken a page from good friend Johnny Depp's playbook and decided to sue one of his accusers. I urge absolutely everyone in bands, the music industry and otherwise to read 'Bodies' by IanWinwood immediately.

With classics such as Ted Hughes's The Iron Man and award-winners including Emma Carroll's Letters from the Lighthouse, Faber Children's Books brings you the best in picture books, young reads and classics. For all its aims and the author's undoubted experience in this world, there is nothing as powerful as the first five minutes of the Elvis film, where they stick his head in a bucket of cold water to revive him and get him on stage No Matter What. The author is clearly great friends with Frank Turner and he show horns the singer into so many pages it’s hilarious.

Before the band had the chance to split, he was charged with, and ultimately convicted of, conspiracy to engage in sexual activity with minors and possession of indecent images of children and “extreme” animal pornography. And there are those who are no longer with us, including Chris Cornell, Chester Bennington and Mark Lanegan, whose frailties would have been the same if they’d worked in offices rather than the world’s biggest stages, but their fates might have been different.

No other industry chews up its participants and spits them out in the way that the music industry does. It is like a government health warning but would help you enter with your eyes open and ready to protect yourself.Ian Winwood's had a hard time of it himself, as someone who's as much a part of the scene as those on stage.
